Urban Era is a new, modern shopping and relaxing destination, situated in the inner city of Tianhe, Guangzhou. The conception also provides a new community hub and lots of green public spaces. The Urban Era project is more focusing on how the occupants is going to interact with the space and designed to be suitable for every potential users to spend their time for various reasons. The connection with people and nature has always been the core throughout the design. The design maximize the refreshing green landscape on both ground and rooftop gardens, which utilizes natural cooling system to counteract the heat-island effect, refreshing the city’s environment as well as the social environment. Rooftop gardens, Rooftop cafes and elevated platform “floating” under the roof are highlights of the design. The roof is imitating origami, a traditional Chinese art form. And its folding angles and hollow gaps are creating interesting shadow to the whole project.
